Sindhu, who jumped to spot 2 in BWF World Rankings recently, is nominated for an eminent Padma Bhushan Award by Sports Ministry on Monday. Sindhu is the second athlete to be nominated for the country’s third highest civilian award after former India captain MS Dhoni, this year.

Sindhu’s credentials are impeccable and is the only Indian shuttler with Olympics Silver and three World Championship medals.

Sindhu was conferred with Arjuna Award in 2013, Padma Shree in 2015, and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 2016, and now, the 22-year-old has been unstoppable and joins Saina Nehwal and Pullela Gopichand to become the third shuttler to be conferred with the Padma Bhushan Award.

She is one of our greatest shuttlers with many achievements. Having won two bronze medals at World Championships in 2013 and 2014, and hitting towards the podium for the silver at Rio Olympics, 2016. Life for her has been completely different after Olympics. Since then, everything has been nice for Sindhu. She went on adding trophies to her cabinet and won three super series titles later - India Open, China Open, and Korea Open. Sindhu changed the color of the medal to silver in World Championship, Glasgow this year.

She has been one of the greatest names in the Indian badminton and is the most appropriate choice by the Ministry of Sports.

Adding so many winning titles to the name wouldn’t have been easy for Sindhu and winning the huge number of laurels at the very tender age, she would definitely stands as an inspiration to the upcoming players.
