The celebrated star shuttler Kidambi Srikanth, received the fourth highest civilian award, Padma Shri, from President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday.
At 25, Srikanth is the second youngest sportsperson in the country to have received the award after P. V. Sindhu, who received at the age of 19.
An Arjuna awardee Srikanth is the first Indian badminton player to win the golden trio of Grand Prix gold, Super Series and Super Series Premier titles.

Surprised by the news, the Guntur lad said, “I’m surprised to have received the call from the government regarding the shortlist for the award. I had applied thinking that I’m eligible, yet surprised,” as quoted the saying by News18.
Currently ranked world No. 2, Srikanth revelation happened in the last season when he won as high as four Super Series titles; Indonesia Open, Denmark Open, Australian Open, and French Open.
Srikanth has the highest chances of reaching the career best of the top spot in the BWF World Rankings, soon, this season.
