BWF World Rankings: Saina back to 10th, Prannoy jumps to career best

After the hard fought battle at the continental championships which witnessed some breathtaking performances, here are the commendable changes in the latest rankings released by Badminton World Federation on May 3rd.


Two time Commonwealth Games gold medallist Saina Nehwal returned to World No. 10, while HS Prannoy and Kidambi Srikanth climbed up to world no. 3 and world no.8; Prannoy’s being the career best.


The 25-year-old, who missed out on a medal in Gold Coast, made it to the semi final by beating World No. 2 Son Wan Ho in the quarters. However, in the last 4, he lost to Long and settled for bronze. Lin Dan, who suffered a first-round loss in Wuhan, dropped two places to No.10. Sai Praneeth climbed up by one place to 18th.


PV Sindhu remained in the same spot at third despite her good show at the Badminton Asia Championship in Wuhan.


Tai Tzu Ying, who clinched gold recently at ABC tournament, went back to the top spot, descending Akane Yamaguchi


While, Viktor Axelsen stay put at the top spot as he won the European Championship title. Nevertheless, Chen Long and Shi Yuqi slipped one spot down as Srikanth, who crashed out in the quarters at the Asian Championships, rose up.


Men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty stick to their World No. 18 rank. While, Pranaav Jerry Chopra and N Sikki Reddy of mixed doubles fell two ranks down to 23rd.
