She is an incredible player and truly a gem. Here are some lesser-known facts about the Indian badminton queen, which we bet you didn't have a clue about.


Early Life & Education


 - PV Sindhu was born on 5th July 1995, in Vijayawada district of the state of Andhra Pradesh.

 

 - PV Sindhu's full name is Pusarla Venkata Sindhu. Her actual name is Sindhu, while Pusarla is her patronymic name.

 

 - Sindhu's Parents, P. V Ramana and P. Vijaya, both were professional volleyball players.

 

 - PV Sindhu is the tallest female badminton player of India. She has an impressive height of 5'11.

 

 -  She started playing badminton at a young age of 8 and used to travel more than 50kms in a day for her training.

 

 - Sindhu holds a graduation degree in B Com and has also completed MBA.

 - Sindhu was also awarded an honorary doctorate from the Chennai Vels University.

 

Honors


 - Sindhu was also bestowed with the post of the leader in the Commonwealth Games 2018, Indian parade.

 

 - In 2013, Alike her father, Sindhu was also granted with Arjuna award.

 

 - She was also awarded the FICCI breakthrough Sportsperson of the year 2014.

 

 - After two years in 2015, she was awarded the NDTV Indian of the year.


 - She was granted India's fourth highest civilian award Padma Shri in 2015, for her excellent contribution to Indian Badminton.

 

 - In 2016, Sindhu was honored with the highest sporting honor of India, the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award. 

 

 - She is so dedicated that to partake in the Grand Prix at Lucknow, she did not attend her sister's wedding.


As Player


 - Sindhu is the youngest Indian woman and the first female Indian shuttler to clinch a Silver medal in the Olympics.

 

 - She is also the only Indian badminton player to reach the finals at the Olympics.

 

 - In her free time, Sindhu loves to swim and relaxes with Yoga.

 

Personal Life


 - She does not watch so much T.V still she is a big fan of the actors Hrithik Roshan, Prabhas and Mahesh Babu.


 -  Sindhu is a foodie and also a hardcore non-vegetarian. She loves eating Chinese and Italian cuisines, but she never underestimates the Hyderabadi Biryani.


  - In 2015, Sindhu was appointed as the Deputy Collector in the Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh, in the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration office under the government revenue department.


  - Since July 2013, PV Sindhu has been employed as an assistant sports manager, with Bharat Petroleum.


  - She was also appointed as the first brand ambassador of Bridgestone India.


 -  Sindhu's on-court rival and Carolina Marin of Spain are best friends.


 - She is also friends with the Chinese shuttlers Wang Yihan and Wang Xin.


  - PV Sindhu gives the credit for her success to her Parents.
