The ace player of the Malaysian mixed doubles, Goh Liu Ying suffered an injury, at the World Championships, held recently at China, after which the possibilities of her, to take part in the upcoming tournaments was uncertain. The recent news on Goh Liu Ying of Malaysia has brought back smiles on her fan’s face.

According to the Malaysian badminton latest updates 2018, the shuttler gets an affirmation to partake in the leap year games which will embark from 18th August and last till 2nd Sept. However, the 29-year-old Malaysian shuttler will land on the court in Indonesia, to fight for her first-ever Asian medal. Goh Liu is partnered with Chan Peng Soon.

On Monday, at the National Sports Institute, the mixed doubles shuttler went through MRI scan, to know that her Achilles heel is injured. According to the result of the MRI, the injury was major.

Her head coach, Pang Cheh Chang has told that the shuttler is ready to play. There was no tear in the ligaments and so, the injury was manageable and can be treated soon. The training schedule for Goh Liu will be easy so that she can continue her practice and at the same time, recover at the earliest. This is necessary to prevent the minimum risk and will not provoke the injury. With the proper rest, the shuttler will recover soon.

Pang Cheh Chang also stated, the Asian Games are in two weeks and Goh Liu will be recovered and ready to play by then.

The pair of Peng Sonn and Liu Ying reached to the quarterfinals in Nanjing World championships, after which the Malaysian duo was foiled by Hong Kong’s World No 4 pair of Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet.

In the inaugural game of the match, Chun Man smashes a drop shot and Liu Ying tried to play that shot but twisted her ankle.

The coach Cheh Chang has all his trust in the shuttler and he said that she could perform well in the upcoming Asiad championships. She only requires taking a proper care of her body and recover fast by taking enough rest. He also stated that; the shuttler is hardworking and always ready to compete if she is fit and fine. She is an expert player and has the capability to win any tournament.

On the other hand, the mixed doubles player of Malaysia, Liu Ying is elated to hear about the positive changes for her to play in the upcoming tournaments after NSI informed her.

Liu Ying said that in the past, she has overcome a lot of minor and fatal injuries, in her entire career. This injury is nothing new to her. Her next accomplishment is to triumph the Asian Games, and the injury is not a barrier for her, to achieve the targets. She also stated that; she wants to take care of herself as much as she can, in these two weeks, recover from the injury and land on the Indonesian court.

The Badminton Association of Malaysia also has national teams that will partake in the Asiad and bring at least two laurels to the nation. The duo of Peng Soon-Liu Ying is one of them. Besides this, the pair of other Malaysian shuttlers; the world no 7 Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Jemie Lai will also partake in the upcoming championships, after they lose the previous world championships.

The pair of Goh Soon and Shevon Jemie defeated by the Indian mixed doubles pair, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnapa, in the last 16.

Malaysian shuttlers have a daunting challenge in front of them, as the most outstanding achievement by them was a bronze medal in the Asian Games, won by a mixed doubles team. Malaysia’s best achievement in the mixed doubles at the Asian Games was a bronze.

Till now, only two pairs of Yap Kim-Hock Lee Wai and Mohd Fairuzizuan Tazari-Wong Pei Tty have won the bronze in the mixed doubles team, at Hiroshima in 1994 and Doha in 2006 respectively.

The nation and the BAM will have expectations form the current mixed doubles team, to level up their game to bring gold.
