Having tasted the glory of bronze in 2014, Ashwini was gleaming with enthusiasm and zest for the upcoming Asian Games’18. Her fresh perspective and unruly focus totally blew us off. She stayed composed throughout and shared some insights on her game, fitness, strategy and much more in a quick candid chat with the Doubles specialist.

Do you think Asian Games I tougher and challenging than Commonwealth Games?

Yes, absolutely anyday, Asian Games pose a bigger threat and challenge for the greatest of badminton legends hail from Asian countries including the likes of Tai Tzu, Chen Long, Akiyo etc. Asian Games is tougher and challenging because of its exclusivity and players need higher endurance level, agility and insane flexibility to put across a brilliant game.

As a team, Indian badminton looks good in shape, form and performance. Everyone has been delivering quite well, exceeding and surpassing the expectations is what we aim for now. Having won a bronze, we need to color it yellow and sprinkle some shine to the medal.

What are the gold hopes for the Indian contingent at the Asian Games’18?

As a team, we’re strong and extremely focussed. Our achievements and objectives stay undeterred and individually, we have some great players like Saina, Kidambi and Sindhu who will surely do us proud. We will strive to achieve the gold by giving our 100%.

What is your strategy for the game this time?

My strategy always depends on the opponent’s performance and psyche. I have a good coordination with my partner Satwik who is a fighter spirit and his aggression gives me an adrenaline rush, we make a great pair and I’m sure we can beat the best this time.

Any message to your fans!

Sending warmth and love to all, thank for always supporting us and keep sending in your best wishes. We will do your all proud.
