BAI Announces Probables & Camp for Thomas & Uber Cu

Badminton Association of India released a list of 26-probabales for the Thomas & Uber Cup 2020, with Sai Praneeth, Kidambi Srikanth, P Kashyap, Saina Nehwal, Sikki Reddy & Ashwini Ponnappa being the prominent names.
Expected to report at the Preparatory Camp from today, the 26-probables will undergo strict safety & health protocols and will have a mandatory stay at the camp until the final squad is selected on the 17th of September.
Some of the missing names in the probables include – PV Sindhu, who pulled out for personal reasons and the ace doubles team of Satwik Sairaj & Chirag Shetty - who also pulled out. Satwik is recuperating from the recent corona virus infection, and that's why they choose to pull out.
Doubles specialists Sumeeth Reddy, Manu Atri are included in the list alongside Dhruv Kapila, MR Arjun and Krishna Prasad. In singles, Lakshya Sen, Shubhankar Dey and Siril Verma make the cut, with Ansal Yadav and Kartikey Kumar also making the 13 names in the men’s team.
In women’s the doubles pairing of Meghana Jakkampudi & Poorvisha Ram alongside Sanjana Santosh and Pooja Dandoo. In singles, Ashmita Chaliha will join Malvika Bhansode alongside Akarshi Kashyap, Ira Sharma. Ashwini Bhatt and Sikha Gautam are also included in the 13-member list.
Thomas & Uber Cup is slated to be held in Demark from the 3rd of October, and for the next ten days the squad will be put in an intense workout as they are coming off a lengthy break due to the corona virus pandemic. While most players have started their training – this is the first team camp following the break.
The team is expected to fly out shortly after the announcement!
