Lakshya and Tanishq emerged winners at India International

Lakshya Sen and Tanishq Mamilla Palli clinched titles in men’s and women’s singles respectively at the India International Badminton Tournament at the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy on Sunday.


Lakshya Sen despite losing in the second game came up to the expectations in the third game after defeating Yee Han Chong of Malaysia with 21-15, 17-21, 21-17, while, in the women’s singles Tanishq outclassed Shikha Goutam with 17-21, 22-20, 21-18; losing in the first game Tanishq caught hold of the nerves and pushed the match to the decider. Though both the players moved for the bidr very badly, the crucial points were gained by Tanishq.


In the men’s doubles match, third seeded Arun George and Sanyam Shukla defeated the eighth seeds Nandagopal Kidambi and Francis Alwin with 21-19, 21-15, while, in women’s doubles Putri Sari Dewi Citra and Yujia Jin from Singapore ousted Jee Lynn Lim and Zhen Yap of Malaysia with 20-22, 21-9, 21-13 to claim the title.


In the mixed doubles category, eighth seeded Indian Rohan Kapoor and Kuhoo Garg went down to the Malaysian pair Tang Jie Chen and Liu Ying Goh with 21-19, 21-13.

Women's singles: Tanishq Mamilla Palli beat Shikha Gautam 17-21, 22-20, 21-18


Doubles: Putri Sari Dewi Citra-Yujia Jin beat Jee Lynn Lim-Zhen Yap 20-22, 21-9, 21-13


Mixed doubles: Tang Jie Chen-Liu Ying Goh beat Rohan Kapoor-Kuhoo Garg 21-19, 21-13
