Latest BWF world rankings: Big jump for Nandagopal and Alwin, Srikanth back to 3rd

In the latest world rankings released by Badminton World Federation (BWF) India’s top men’s singles shuttler Kidambi Srikanth back to world no. 3 on Thursday. The badminton prodigy rose two spots up after he won three out of his four matches at last week’s Badminton Asia Team Championship, where India reached the quarter-finals.


The third best men’s singles shuttler of India, B Sai Praneeth,  jumped three spots up to settle at 14th position.


While, HS Prannoy, the Nationals winner, slipped one spot to 11th due to his bad foot corn.

Syed Modi International winner Sameer Verma also fell down to 44th and Commonwealth Games champion P Kashyap fell to 45th in the updated world rankings.


Ajay Jayaram is now 48th, Sourabh Verma is 64th and Subhankar Dey is right behind him at 65th.


Sindhu and Saina remains same

In the women’s singles rankings, no change has been seen, as PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal remained 4th and 11th positions respectively.


Emerging shuttler Ruthvika Shivani Gadde went eight places up to place at 55th after her amazing form at the Hong Kong badminton tournament. Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravalli is 63rd and former national champion Rituparna Das is 69th.


The 15-year-old Vaishnavi Reddy Jakka has been displaying her magnificent plays which is reflecting with her world rankings; she rose six spots up to career-high of 72nd after reaching to semi-finals at the Iran International last week. While, 22-year-old Rasika Raje reached the quarter-finals of the same event and is now at her career-best ranking of 94th.

Big jump for Nandagopal and Alwin


Elder brother of Kidambi Srikanth, Nandagopal Kidambi partnering with Alwin Francis rose to whooping of 35 spots up to 110th. The duo clinched the Iran International trophy, which is their first title together.


While, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty remained static at 25th, Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy at 30th.


In women’s doubles, Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy dropped a place to 26th. In mixed doubles, Pranaav Jerry Chopra and Reddy maintain their 21st ranking and so do Ponnappa and Rankireddy, who are at 58th.
