Sourabh Verma, the Indian shuttler has been a gem to the country. In an adolescent age, he has seen many ups and downs in his career and the last few years were quite rugged to him. The constant injuries have tried to devastate the 25-year-old young passionate player.

In the year 2015, when he encountered an injury in his elbow, it was enough to discomfort him and suddenly he faced an ankle problem, which was encountered in September 2017. These injuries have shackled his motivation. Sourabh Verma, the player who holds the position of World Number 71, was determined to come back to the games after the elbow injury and then his ankle ditched him. This has forced him to stay away from the game in the previous year too. Fortunately, he has been training and is staying fit, but for him to get completely recovered and prepare for the tournaments, he still needs more practice.

Unfortunately, at the national level, Sourabh is not ranked and has to play extremely well in the qualifiers round in order to reach to the main draw. In the second round of the qualifiers, Verma whipped out Neel Shah by 15-4, 15-7 and there is a hope for him to do well in the later matches.

According to the Asian Games latest updates, the 2011 Champion, Sourabh Verma is desperate to get into the Asian Games Squad. However, he’s neither playing in any pressure nor trying to force himself; rather he is playing well and trying his best. Talking about Sourabh Verma’s preparation for Asian Games, it is sure that he is very much determined. He is totally maintaining his focus on winning the matches with a good difference. He is determined to play at the different tournaments in order to retain the consistency he had. He is getting ready to get back the position at the top and compete with his opponents.

Four years back, Verma has played in the Asian Games in Incheon dwelling in the spirit of patriotism and playing outstanding for the nation. He has been a notable player, who got a chance to represent his country, four years back and he has the determination to do that again.

Sourabh was trained under the former Indian Player, Gopichand. Due to the immense guidance of his trainer, Sourabh is aware that the level of competition will be tougher as the men’s singles category has over 500 entries. This competition level is high as many of the players are motivated and encouraged by players like Kidambi Srikanth, HS Prannoy and many other eminent players. When Indian players play for the country, there exist no rivalry among them and they play as one country. That is the beauty of sports. Apart from Sourabh Verma, another badminton start, RMV Guru Sai Dutt has also trailed his track after an ankle surgery he went through. He has also qualified the second round by overpowering Harsh Arora with a 15-6, 15-5. He is also expecting to make it to the Asian Games.
