The fifth seed Sourabh Verma  and the top seed Sameer Verma entered next round  after the gallant fight against Yun Gyu Lee of South Korea and Arintap Das Gupta of India at the BWF Super 100 Hyderabad Open 2018 on Wednesday at the G.M.C Balayogi SATS Indoor Stadium, Gachibowli, Hyderabad.

Verma brothers won in the straight sets with 21-12, 22-20 and 21-16, 21-16 respectively on Day 2.

Sourabh said, “It is definitely favourable playing on the home-crowd, not just in terms of the weather conditions, but also the ambience; like at the Russian Open 2018 in July, the stadium was completely white, including the seats, which was difficult to differentiate with the cork color. And, of course the quality of the players,”

Saurabh talking about the Indian players grabbing international feats, elucidated, “All the Indian players inspire a lot including my elder Sameer Verma. Their particular strokes and unique game style is something I need to learn from them. Besides, women players like Saina (Nehwal) and (Sindhu) winning Olympic and World medals is commendable.

Also, consistency matters; due to injury, my rank has fallen from the career-best ranking of World No. 30 to out of top 50. The zeal of winning and maintaining the fitter body with day-to-day practise along with an improvement in the game style will definitely get me back,” Saurabh added.

On asking about the toughest rivals, “I don’t have any rival but playing one match at a time as my strategy is different. Before playing any match, I watch videos of my opponent’s previous tournament and learn their game style before coming to the final analysis.”

Meanwhile in other Men’s Singles matches, Ajay Jayaram and B Sai Praneeth faltered in the opening round.

Ajay after the close encounter in the first game lost the pace and gave away three straight points to his opponent Vicky Angga Saputra of Indonesia, while in the second game, the Indian grabbed the lead with 5-0 before losing the stride gradually.

Second seeded Praneeth lost the tough challenge posed by the unseed Indonesian Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo with 21-13, 20-22, 12-21 in the match that lasted for 56 minutes.
