BWF Hyderabad Open 2018 LIVE: Pranaav & Sikki into Semis

Pranaav Jerry Chopra and N Sikki Reddy cruised into the Semi-Finals at the BWF Super 100 Hyderabad Open at the G.M.C. Balayogi Stadium, Gachibowli, Hyderabad.

 

The top seeded defeated Yeng ming Nok and Ng Tsz Yau of Hong-Kong with 22-20, 14-21, 21-17 in the contest that lasted for 52 minutes.

 

In the match, where Sikki played around the net and Pranaav handled back alley court with killer smashes, there were ups and downs as it was difficult to choose between the opponents.

 

In the opening game, the Indian pair grabbed an early lead from opponent’s unforced errors with 4-0 and sooner cruised to the 11-4 advantage by the breather. Yeng and Tsz pair took the first point post-break.

 

Sikki excelled well with agility and deft shots, but prone to wrong baseline judge and unforced errors; the Hong-Kong pair managed to reduce the deficit with 11-13 but the Indian pair kept up with the gap by 14-12 to their advantage.

 

The game witnessed who is in the lead game till 20-20, filled with deception shots after Yeng/Tsz learning the poor area from Pranaav/Sikki, before the former sealed the game.

 

After switching the sides, the game filled with close encounters till 7-7, before Yeng/Tsz pair posed the commanding game by the half-time with 11-10. The Indians could win just four more points before the match is pushed to the decider.

 

At the onset of the decider, the game periled the Indians as the Hong-Kong pair led the tough challenge before taking the half time with a 11-8 lead. Trailing from 12-8, the Indians gained consecutive points to level the score and took the match.

 

Meanwhile in another Mixed Doubles matches, Arjun M.R./Maneesha K lost to the sixth seeds Akbar Bintang Cahyono/Winny Oktavina Kandow of Hong-Kong with 7-21, 12-21 in just 24 minutes and Sruthi K.P./S Sunjith lost to the Indonesian pair Renaldi Samosir/Hediana Julimarbela with 16-21, 13-21 in 25 minutes.

 

In the Semi-Finals, Pranaav and Sikki pair will face Chang Tak Ching and Ng Wing Yung on Saturday.
