Top seed Sameer Verma of India clinched gold after the hard fight against Joo Ven Soong of Malaysia with 21-15, 21-19 at the BWF Super 100 Hyderabad Open 2018 on Sunday at the G.M.C Balayogi SATS Indoor Stadium, Gachibowli, Hyderabad.
In the first round, Soong grabbed the lead with 11-7. Later, Sameer lost points due to unforced errors post the interval, but gradually found the stride and broke off the deficit with a favorable lead of 18-15 and the game with 21-15.
The close encounter brewed in the second game till 6-6, before closing it with a slender lead of 11-10 by Sameer. With agility and reflexive shots, Sameer took him towards the 19-17 lead and then the game concluded with a stunning score of 21-19.
With this India adds another gold at the BWF Super 100 Hyderabad Open 2018 badminton tournament.
