His languid elegance may often betray the steely resolve within but when in full flow there are few better sights than watching B Sai Praneeth take apart opponents with almost surgical precision. And his performance at the Yonex Swiss Open 2019, has been nothing short of simply sensational. On Saturday, the 2017 Singapore Open champion took apart Olympic Gold Medalist and second seed Chen Long in straight games 21-18 21-13.

Although, the match began on an even kneel, and Chen Long did seem to be in the ascendency, Sai Praneeth was in no mood to let this go and made stepped up the fight mid-way through the first game. Praneeth who had lost to Long at the Indonesian Masters earlier this year, and also come off second best at the Asian Championships in 2018, seemed determined to make it third time lucky for himself.

After the tight first game, which could have gone either way, the world number 22, Sai Praneeth, made light work of his opponent in the second to take home this tie and make it to the first super series final of the year.

A total match time of 46 minutes and a straight games victory also keeps him afresh for the summit clash against top seeded Shi Yuqi.

Earlier this week Sai Praneeth trekked up the Swiss Alps and now has the opportunity to scale the summit of the Swiss Open where several of his compatriots have failed. On his day Sai Praneeth has the game and the stamina to match anyone stroke-for-stroke and give even the more illustrious players an absolute run for their money.

All of India will be hoping for a final encore from this stylish shuttler and hoping for a Swiss encore!
