Rising Indian Stars Hope to Make to Main Draw of the Indian Open

It’s the Opening Day at the Yonex-Sunrise India Open and the levels of excitement are palpable already. While, the main draw of the tournament gets underway only in the evening hours, it is some of the young & upcoming stars of Indian badminton who will be in action as qualifications get underway this morning.
Pranav Jerry Chopra, Rahul Yadav, Anoushka Parikh, Kuhoo Garg are all in action today at the Indira Gandhi Stadium and will be looking forward to marching into the main draw of their respective events.
C. Rahul Yadav will be one of the first of the players to take the court as he goes up against Aneeth Kumar Repudi. The Hyderabad Hunters player will be confident of making it to the main draw, as he plays an opponent ranked almost 150 places behind him in the world rankings.
Anoushka Parikh & Kuhoo Garg take on the Chinese pairing of Xiaofei Chen & Chaomin Zhou in the women’s doubles; while Pranaav Jerry Chopra combines with Shivam Sharma in the men’s doubles event to take on Vikas Chauhan & Sandeep Choudhary.
Having just broken into the top 100 of the women’s singles – Riya Mookherjee will also be confident of making it to the main draw. She takes on a formidable opponent in Saili Rane.
