Looking forward to the second day at the VICTOR China Open 2019, and we have a slew of Indian players in action. With seven matches in all spread across each of the five events, there’s plenty to look forward to for the Indian badminton fans.
Eighth seed Saina Nehwal will open proceedings for India with her women’s singles clash against Busanan Ongbamrungphan of Thailand on court #1, while B Sai Praneeth is likely to be next on court. He will also take on another Thai opponent Suppanyu Avinhingsanon in the third match on court #3. Parupalli Kashyap is the second of the Indian men’s singles players in the main draw and he will face-off against Frenchman Brice Leverdez
The biggest draw of the Indian contingent will be of course newly crowned world champion PV Sindhu, who will open her campaign against Li Xue Rui of China. This is the first outing for PV Sindhu following her exploits at the BWF World Championships in Switzerland and she will be keen to continue her run of good form. Sindhu will be on court number #1 and will play in the post noon session.
Sikki Reddy is slated to play two matches in the day, the first of which will be the Mixed Doubles encounter with Pranav Jerry Chopra. Sikki/Jerry will be up against the German pairing of Mark Lamsfuss & Isabel Herttrich. Sikki will then come back for the evening session for her Women’s Doubles encounter with Ashwini Ponnappa against Cheng Chi Ya/Lee Chin Chen of Chinese Taipei.
The final match for the Indian contingent for the day would be the last encounter on court #2 – Sumeeth Reddy/Manu Atri to take on the formidable Indonesian pair, second seeds Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan.
It is an exciting line-up of matches for the Indian fans and we can expect some thrilling matches Changzhou tomorrow.
