Taking only 25 minutes, Kidambi Srikanth outshined at Denmark Open finals after thrashing Lee Hyun II of South Korea in straight two games to clinch Gold with 21-10, 21-5 and added third super series title of the year to his cabinet with Indonesia Open and Australian Open.

The final match was the painless play for the Indian though he was trailed initially in the first game with 2-3. After matching with the opponent at 4-4, with an 11-6 advantage, Srikanth with his amazing deceptive returns continued his lead to 13-7 and secured 7 straight points to reach 20-8, and wrapped up the opener with 21-10.

After switching the sides, it was way easier for the Indian over his opponent Lee, who couldn’t extricate himself in the second game. With the score of 21-5, the Indian pulverized the 37-year-old offensive player and clinched his second Super Series Premier title.

After Prakash Padukone in 1980, Srikanth becomes the second Indian men’s shuttler to win Denmark Open title after 37 long years and the third Super Series Premier title in his career after 2013 China Open and 2017 Indonesia Open; Saina remains the only woman shuttler from India to win the distinguished title.

Earlier:

In the semi-finals match, world no. 8 Srikanth outclassed Wong Wing Ki Vincent of Hong Kong; in the opener, Srikanth confronted till 5-5 with Wing and started dominating by giving the least chances to the opponent and wrapped the first game with 21-18. The second game was little onerous for the Indian as his opponent gave some close challenge for every now and then, by equalizing the score till 15-15. Later, Srikanth continued his dominance and seized the match with 21-17 in 39 minutes.

Srikanth’s amazing performances at Denmark Open leaves everyone to ponder over his ability to knock down his whomsoever opponent. His defeat over world no. 1 Viktor Axelsen in quarters and the senior player Lee Hyun II in the finals is something to be highlighted about. Srikanth has some crucial matches in the past as well, among which lies his remarkable defeat over the legendary Lin Dan at China Open 2014, Tommy Sugiarto at 2015 Indonesian Masters, 2013 Thailand Open against Boonsak Ponsana and many more.

It sure seems like Srikanth is taking Indian badminton forward with giant progresses and a ride of victories.
