Prajakta Sawant into finals of Malaysia International Challenge 2017

Prajakta Sawant paired with Yogendran Krishnan of Malaysia entered the finals at Malaysia International Challenge after defeating Yantoni Edy Saputra and Marsheilla Gischa Islami of Indonesia with 16-21, 21-16, 23-21 in the 47-minute match in the mixed doubles.

World no. 42 pair, after suffering the close loss in the first game, saved the most of 9 consecutive points in the second game to make the opponents trail by 6 points with 12-5 and continued the dominance to take the game with 21-16. The decider begun with the upper hand of the opponents who maintained it till 13-12 and followed by the exchange of leads between the opponents before the duo Prajakta-Yogendran scored two straight points to march into finals of the tournament. In the previous round, the pair defeated Danny Bawa Chrisnanta and Putri Sari Dewi Citra with 21-15,12-21, 21-19.

Goan shuttler, Anura Prabhudesai ousted from the tournament in the pre-quarters match of the tournament after thrashed by the local shuttler Yin Fun Lim with 21-7, 21-17 in 31 minutes, while, Anura with Mukherjee Riya in women’s doubles lost in the same round against the eighth seeded Tsun Yu Lin and Ying Chun Lin with 21-17, 21-7.
