Srikanth misses to bag world no 1 chance by pulling out from Hong Kong Open

Srikanth after skipping China Open last week, now decided to skip Hong Kong Open as well who needs time to recover from his muscle strain. The world no. 2, who is numero uno in the Dubai Destination Rankings, will be fit and good for the Dubai Super Series Final in December.





Physio C Kiran said, “Srikanth is much better. The injury has almost healed. But we wanted to ensure that he is 100 per cent before he plays a tournament, not even 90 per cent, so we decided to give him another week's time rest. We want him to be very good in the tournament he plays.”


Sameer Verma and Ajay Jayaram are among other who are recovering from a shoulder injury and hamstring injury respectively, will be not seen in the Hong Kong Open Super Series that starts from 21st November.


It is long way for Sameer Verma as he pulled out from Denmark Open, French Open, and Senior Nationals Badminton Championship. He said, “My injury has healed and I am going through the rehabilitation now. I will start my rigorous on-court training next month,” he added, “I hope to regain my full fitness before the Premier Badminton League.”


B Sai Praneeth, the Singapore Open Champion and Indonesia Open finalist, will be seen at the Hong Kong Open after resting for a week during the recently-concluded China Open.
