Men’s team led by Kidambi Srikanth at the Badminton Asia Team Championship, made another clean sweep by outplaying Maldives with 5-0 on Wednesday.
World No. 5 Srikanth started the proceedings by thrashing Shaheed Hussein Zayan with 21-5, 21-6 in the first singles match, before B Sai Praneeth took just 17 minutes to get the better of Ahmed Nibal with 21-10, 21-4.
The rest of the tie followed a similar script as Sameer Verma trounced with Mohamed Arsalaan Ali with 21-5, 21-1 to take straight 3-0 lead.
In the doubles matches, Indian men hardly broke a sweat.
In the first doubles match, the young lads Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated Shaheed Hussein Zayan and Shaheem Hassan Afsheem with 21-8, 21-8 before Arjun MR teamed up with Shlok Ramachandran to tame the pair of Mohamed Arsalaan Ali and Ahmed Nibal with 21-2, 21-5.
Indian men contingent will now play against Indonesia on Thursday, while women will face the tough Japanese.
