In the presence of the Union Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore, the Indian Olympic Association has unveiled the sports attire for the Commonwealth Games along with sponsors and an assemblage of leading athletes on Monday.

Apart from the officials, the IOA will take care of all the expenses to send the Indian powerhouse of 227 athletes to Gold Coast, Australia, besides the sponsorship from the Edelweiss. The IOA also will offer an insurance cover of rupees 50 lakhs to each athlete.

Edelweiss also extended the support to the Indian contingent for the Asian Games and the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, with the National Games for two years.

Rathore said, “With self discipline among players, managers and everyone else, we will win fairly.”

Rathore recapulated the strong support for sports from the union government to make equal contribution to the National Sports Development Fund (NSDF).

“It is a federal fund. So, whenever anyone puts money into it, it gets doubled, as the government puts equal money. The company that puts the money into the fund can tell where the money can be used, geographically, which athlete, or which sport,” the Sports Minister elucidated.

Rashesh Shah, the Edelweiss chairman said, “Athletes are healthy and we will help them manage their long-term wealth.

The IOA officials said that more announcements will be made soon about the sponsors.
