It is really important for Parupalli Kashyap to win the Austrian Open title as he is waited for three years after winning the India Open Grand Prix.

The 31-year-old said, “Yes, in that context, getting the winning feeling back is of great importance to me as I prepare for the big events this year,” as quoted the saying by The Hindu.

The Commonwealth Games champion explained, “Only a very few know the kind of trauma I had gone through in the last three years when major injuries hampered my training and game. Not many had a clue as to what kind of training I should have given the spate of injuries. But thankfully, Gopi sir and the staff at the Gopichand Academy were a huge source of inspiration.”

Kashyap told that at some point he gave up due to injuries and breaks. “Pain used to prick me back every time I started training after an injury break. Only in the last four months I could train without any injury break.

“As I was thinking to extend my career after 30, I was constantly analysing my fitness levels and the regimen,” he added.

The former Nationals champion said, “We don’t get group of quality players like Srikanth, Prannoy, and Praneeth in the near future. I always feel myself a better player while training with them. They are amazing players.”

“Probably, the Austrian Open title brings me back the winning habit. I’m playing the Challenger event almost after nine years, and I feel great it happened with this tournament.”

Kashyap feel that it is the big challenge for him to play against the leading players and most of them are from India.

“Only fitness levels are of supreme concern and I have to be smarter in my training for sure as I need not change my game style,” observed Kashyap.
