Sai Praneeth grabbed career best of 12th spot, Srikanth back to 2

B Sai Praneeth climbed up to the career best spot World no. 12 in the latest BWF World Rankings, while Kidambi Srikanth jumped back to his career best world no. 2 position on Thursday; the Guntur lad pushed the senior Lee Chong Wei to three rungs down.


While, other two opponents Son Wan Ho and Chen Long also rose one spot each to No. 3 and No. 4 respectively.


Srikanth has the highest chance of grabbing the top spot, next week, since the world champion Viktor Axelsen pulled out of the All England Open 2018 duo to his ankle injury.


HS Prannoy fell four places down and settled at 16th spot as he skipped few tournaments due to foot corn he developed at the India Open.


Sameer Verma plunged four spots to settle at 36th position, while Parupalli Kashyap remains at 41st spot. The recuperating Ajay Jayaram dived seven rungs to be 56th, Sourabh Verma is 59th and Subhankar Dey is 63rd

Sindhu climbs, Saina jumps


In the women’s singles category, Sindhu went back to world no. 3 exchanging the place with Ratchanok Intanon, one number less in matching her career best rank.


As Nitchaon Jindapol reached the semi-finals of last week’s German Open, she surged to 11th, pushing Saina Nehwal down to 12th.


15-year-old Vaishnavi Reddy Jakka’s run to the semi-finals of the Brazil International hauled her up by five places to a career-high ranking of 64th. She is now right behind the 63rd ranked Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravalli.


Former national champions Ruthvika Shivani Gadde and Rituparna Das are 55th and 86th respectively.


Career high for Satwik and Chirag


The top Indian men’s doubles duo, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty went four spots up to 21st position, their career best in the latest BWF World Rankings.


India’s No. 2 pair, B Sumeeth Reddy and Manu Attri, who won the 2017 Senior National Championships,  fell one place down to 33rd


In women’s doubles, Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy are 25th. The top Indian mixed doubles combination of N Sikki Reddy and Pranaav Jerry Chopra won a round at last week’s German Open, which drove a rise of two spots to 25th. While, National champions Ashwini Ponnappa and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy settled at 57th.
