Commonwealth Games 2018 Badminton: India thrashed Pakistan with 5-0

India registered yet another victory in the Group A matches, against Pakistan, with 5-0 lead at the Commonwealth Games 2018, Gold Coast on Thursday.


The emanation of victory started with the mixed doubles duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and N Sikki Reddy, who with their snapping chemistry dispatched Saeed Bhatti and Palwasha Bashir with 21-10 21-13  to pocket India first tie point with 1-0.


In the men’s singles match, Srikanth had the hard encounter for each point by Murad Ali. The Indian even trailed in the second game by the breather with 10-11. However, Srikanth managed to outplay his opponent in the nail biting match and sealed the match with 21-16, 22-20, extending India’s lead to 2-0.


Then came Saina Nehwal, who just thrashed her opponent Mahoor Shahzad with 21-7, 21-11 to give India an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match tie. Saina was seen enjoying the match against her Shahzad.


As Sindhu is recuperating with her ankle injury she experienced during the training session ahead to CWG, Saina is the lone warrior till World No. 3 resumes her oncourt action at the tournament.


Next came men’s doubles category where Pranaav Chopra and Chirag Shetty combined to defeat Muhammad Irfan Saeed Bhatti and Murad Ali 21-9, 21-15.


Last but not the least, Ashwini Ponnappa and Ruthvika Gadde took the court in women’s doubles against Mahoor Shahzad and Palwasha Bashir and won the match 21-6, 21-10 to complete the 5-0 drubbing.


India will have face-off against Scotland on Friday.

Men’s Doubles: Pranaav Jerry Chopra-Chirag Shetty beat Muhammad Irfan Saeed Bhatti-Murad Ali with 21-9, 21-15;

Women’s Doubles: Ashwini Ponnappa-Ruthvika Gadde beat Mahoor Shahzad-Palwasha Bashir with 21-6 ,21-10.
