Badminton Asia Championship Quarters: Top Bets vs Top Bets

After breathtaking success at the recently-concluded Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Indian badminton stars gave the good start at the ongoing Badminton Asia Championships in Wuhan.


Top seed Kidambi Srikanth entered quarter-finals at the tourney after his opponent Wong Wing Ki Vincent retired in the first game after a 7-2 trail, and will face Lee Chong Wei in the next round.


World No. 10 HS Prannoy defeated Wang Tzu Wei in the three games pre-quarter match with 16-21, 21-14, 21-12 and will face the second seed and world no. 2 Son Won Ho in the quarter finals match.


Women’s Singles stars PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal made into quarters after defeating Chinese girls Chen Xiaoxin of China with 21-12, 21-15 and Gao Fangjie with 21-18, 21-8 respectively.


While, B Sai Praneeth lost to Chen Long of China with 21-12, 21-12 in the 39-minute encounter of the pre-quarters match.


In the doubles category, Men’s Doubles pair Arjun M.R. and Ramchandran Shlok ousted by the top seed Li Junhul and Liu Yuchen of China with 21-11, 21-19. While, Women’s Doubles duo Jakkampudi Meghana and S Ram Poorvisha got thrashed by the seventh seeded Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai with 21-8, 21-9 in the 23-minute encounter.


Previously, India’s top earner in 2018 in the Men’s Singles category, Sameer Verma had an early exit in the opening round after losing to Chou Tien Chen, the seventh seeded, with 23-21, 21-17.
