On the 10th June’18, India’s young women double pair of Ritika Thaker and Simran Singhi won the prestigious Malaysian International title by defeating the Maldivian double pair top seeds of Aminath Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq and Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq, 21-17, 21-12 in the finals.
In the semi-finals, the 16-year-old Singhi and 17-year-old Thaker defeated the local seed players Vilina Appiah and Mandira Lubah in a striking match of 21-11, 21-4 score line.
The dynamic duo won the All India Junior Ranking Tournament in Tirupur recently, which secured them a safe spot in India’s squad for the Badminton Asia Junior Championships.
However, the double lost in the first year of the Malaysian International championships, they proved to be victorious in the second year. They also lost in the India Open to China’s Wenjing Dong and Xueying Feng 21-7, 21-8.
