After the much-controversial Beiwen Zhang’s badminton representation from USA despite her Singapore nationality, she finally succeeded and managed to herald the crowdfunding via her social media request. It seems like the summer has arrived for the passionate and ambitious Zhang.
As the Badminton World Federation (BWF) earlier banned players to represent from other countries, it was a disappointment for a mass of badminton players including Zhang, who took over to her Instagram account and requested her fans and supporters to crowdfund for the upcoming USA Open 2018 starting from Jun 12th- June 17th’18.
We’re so happy to see Zhang playing and thanking her supporters in a sweet Instagram post here.
First off, I want to give a big THANK YOU to all my supporters!! I was very nervous before starting this campaign because I wasn’t sure how it would turn out but you guys have given me even more motivation to keep pushing towards my goal. I can’t believe you made my goal within 6 days!! All the extra funds donated will go directly towards each tournament’s expenses after the World Championships. You’ve given me such relief, you have no idea. Now I can be more focused on training and competing The very next tournament coming up is US Open in Southern California; it starts this Wednesday 6/13 and hopefully I will play until Sunday 6/17.
