Indonesia Open’18: Sindhu takes a step towards the title

The Olympic queen PV Sindhu has proved herself once again with her spectacular performance and never say never attitude. The Indian shuttler has beat her rival and Thai shuttler Pornpawee Chochuwong 21-15, 19-21, 21-13 in the first round of the Indonesian Open 2018.

 

The entire match was electrifying and full of jittery. Sindhu had a great start, wherein the first game, she was leading. After the mid-game interval, Chochuwong was on lead with 2 point which sums up the score to 10-8. Progressively, Sindhu took over her matched the level of her opponent and gradually took over her with a lead of 4 points and score 18-14. Besides a tough game, Sindhu maintained to carry forward her great start and make a trench to win the first game 21-15.

 

In the second round, Chochuwong snatches the lead with strong smashing shots in reply to the Indian shuttler. She leads the second game with six points which is a massive difference, while Sindhu acquired only 2 points. As the Thai shuttler takes the lead by 10-4, Sindhu made a comeback by earning  3 more points and making the score 10-7. However, the encounter was thrilling, and Sindhu gave up in the second game as Chochuwong foiled her 21-19.

 

In the decider round, Sindhu made a comeback, and this eminent player proved, why she is the Olympic queen of India. The battle between both the players was intense. Sindhu keeps her lead constantly while Chochuwong was putting immense efforts to take back the lead. After the mid-game break, Sindhu maintained a fabulous lead of 18-11 and even after the continuous attempts of the Thai shuttler, nothing stopped Sindhu, as she finished the match in 2-3 smashes with the final score 21-13 in the third round.

After the proficient shuttlers like Kidambi have upset the badminton fans around the globe, Sindhu was not just a ray of hope, but she was more of a sunrise. With this victory, Sindhu has entered in the second round of the Indonesian Open, where she will bite the bullet with Aya Ohori of Japan, to get into the Quarter-finals in the Women’s Singles category.
