International champion, world No 6 Lee Chong Wei will turn 38 in 2020 and expressed confidence in playing until the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

National singles coach Misbun Sidek is not surprised with the fact that Chong Wei still wants to go on until the 2020 and by looking at his recent games we couldn't agree more.

The Badminton world looks up to Chong Wei’s discipline and dedication.

Misbun has been training Chong Wei for very long. He also helped Wei win his first Olympic silver at the 2008 Beijing edition. While talking of the 2020 goal, he said that despite his advanced age, Chong Wei has never slowed down. He said that Wei’s training regime has not changed for the last 16 years.” He is always the first to report for training on a daily basis and gives undivided attention during practice.”

Misbun added saying “Age is no barrier for those who have a strong desire to succeed. Chong Wei is focused on this mission.”

Misbun said that he has full belief on Wei and is sure of him attaining glory at the Olympics if he made it his goal. The 36 year old Chong Wei just won his 12th Malaysia Open by overcoming World No 11 Kento Momota 21-17, 23-21 in the final in Bukit Jalil.

“If you analyze the final, Momota was putting a lot of pressure on Chong Wei, but then he used his experience instead of using strength and power to dislodge the Japanese ace,” Misbun added.
