Thailand Open 2018: Indian Powerhouse to Compete for the title

Thailand Open 2018 starting from July 10th will stage at Nimibutr Stadium, Bangkok, Thailand which is previously categorized as Grand Prix Gold, has increased the total prize purse to USD 350,000 from USD 120,000 in the upgraded World Tour calendar.

 

Apart from the second seed Kidambi Srikanth and the third seed HS Prannoy from India, the unseeded Parupalli Kashyap and the eighth seed Sameer Verma are also included in the elite list of participation in the Men’s Singles category, while, Shreyansh Jaiswal, Rahul Yadav Chittaboina, and Kartikey Gulshan Kumar are needed to get through the qualifier round.

 

The other players in the men’s singles include China’s world No.3 Shi Yuqi and Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto.

 

In the Women's Singles event, the emerging shuttler Vaishnavi Reddy Jakka joins the second seed PV Sindhu and the fifth seed Saina Nehwal, while, Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravalli needed to get better off in the qualifier round.

 

Yamaguchi will join in the Women's Singles competition by compatriot Nozomi Okuhara, who is ranked eighth in the world. The local players in the women's singles include No.4 Ratchanok and No.11 Nitchaon Jindapol.

 

In the Men's Doubles category, Kona Tarun/Saurabh Sharma, Arjun MR/Ramachandra Shlok, Manu Attri/B. Sumeeth Reddy and the eighth seeds Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/ Chirag Shetty will battle for the title. India's Jakkampudi Meghana/S Ram Poorvisha and Sanyogita Ghorpade/Prajakta Sawant will fight for Women's Doubles title.

 

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa will share the stage in the Mixed Doubles event with the pair Saurabh Sharma and Anoushka Parikh from India.

Unlike recently concluded Malaysia Open and Indonesia Open, the Thailand Open 2018 will witness the strong contingent in the doubles events from India.
