The five-day long Thailand Badminton Open 2018 starting today at the Nimibutr Stadium at Bangkok, Thailand which is witnessing India’s top shuttlers for the championship has some sad news.

Unfortunately, the former World No 1 Indian shuttler Srikanth Kidambi has withdrawn from the tournament due to injury. The player wrote on his social media handle's about his retreat from the Thailand Open is surely unpleasant, but he will play the upcoming World Championships.

Recently in the Indonesian Open, Srikanth took an early exit in an oppressive hustle with his Japanese opponent Kento Momota, who knocked out Srikanth 21-12, 14-21, 21-15 in an hour-long match.

Fans were hoping to see him in this tournament, but Srikanth's injury before the Thailand Open is certainly not good news.

However, Prannoy, Sameer Verma, and Parupalli Kashyap will make their participation in the men's singles category. Kashyap has recovered from a stress fracture on his shin, and this tournament is his first, after the injury.

In the opening round, Sameer Verma will bite the bullet with Thailand's Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk, and Kashyap will take on against Jason Anthony Ho-Shue of Canada.

For the battle of Women’s Singles title, PV Sindhu will play against Linda Zetchiri of Bulgaria in the first round, while Saina Nehwal will inaugurate her campaign against Busanan Ongbamrungphan of Thailand.
