How it all went down at the 2018 Lagos International Badminton Classics?

The 4th Lagos International Badminton Classics 2018 is beginning from July 18th and the four-day event will conclude on the 21st of this month. The event is held at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Complex, Rowe Park, Lagos, where more than 200 Badminton players are anticipated to partake from 23 countries. They will battle for the reward of $25,000.

The Badminton Federation of Nigeria’s President, Francis Orbih said that the entire tournament is categorized in five classes, which consist of men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles. He also confirmed that the upcoming tournament would be a momentous event and more advanced than the erstwhile editions.

The tournament will draw the shuttlers from India, Australia, England and Malaysia along with the African countries such as Ghana, Uganda and South Africa, Orbih stated. He also said that the tournament was approved by the Badminton World Federation and more than 200 shuttlers have expressed their interest in the upcoming event.

Orbih said that the entire tournament would be a grand opportunity for the shuttlers of Lagos as it will be beneficial for them to practice the game and rectify their world ranking. He said that confronting the top-ranked players across the globe, in the tournament would encourage their players.

The anticipation is that the competition is going be cutthroat and arduous than the previous ones, which is on the grounds that the prize money is increased as compared to the former tournaments. The participants are abundant this year, and so the battle for the title will be extremely ambitious, said Orbih.

He also stated that this year, their players also partake in discrete events and the everyone is ardent to witness the performance of the Nigerian players in their foremost crucial competition in their homeland.
