Russian Open'18 Day 2 : Yen Mei finished the cruise of top seed Evgeniya Kosetskaya

The Russian badminton ace shuttler Evgeniya Kosetskaya did not expected such an early exit from the Russian Open 2018 when the National Women’s Singles shuttler Ho Yen Mei disappointed the local champion in the inaugural round of the tournament.


The Russian Open 2018 tournament results have shocked the badminton fans of Evgeniya Kosetskaya. The 22-year-old Yen Mei of Malaysia embarked on her venture against the top seed Evgeniya and stunned her in just 28 minutes at the Sports Hall Olympic in Vladivostok. Yen Mei knocked out her opponent from the tournament yesterday with an easy game 21-11, 21-14.


Evgeniya, who is the silver medallist at the European Championships held in April is also the World No 27. It was an enormous challenge in front of Yen Mei, World No 157 to defeat a vigorous opponent. Yet she managed to register a massive win on her opponent. The Russian Open 2018 tournament score was absolutely shocking.


The Polish Open 2015 winner, Yen Mei will fly in the face of Belgium’s Lianne Tan to secure a spot in the quarterfinals.


Malaysian shuttlers including the second seed Lee Ying Ying and Muralitharan Thinaah also conquered the match and entered to the second round, however, the journey of Lim Yin Fun was concluded.


In the second round of the Women’s Singles, Ying Ying was drawn against Rituparna Das, who later foiled the Malaysian shuttler smoothly with a massive difference and scoreline of 21-4, 21-11. Thinaah will bite a bullet against German shuttler Yvonne Li.


Men’s Singles

 

In the Men’s Singles, S Ramachandran, former international player of Malaysia won a thrilling match against Russian shuttler Dmitrii Riabov 21-9, 16-21, 24-22. In the second round, Ramachandran will venture against Spain’s top seed Pablo Abian for the battle to enter in the pre-quarter finals.


Mixed Doubles

 

In the Mixed Doubles, the pair of Chen Tang Jie and Peck Yen Wei whipped out the Russian pair of Rodion Kargaev and Viktoriia Vorobeva with a 16-21, 21-12, 21-11. In the second round, another pair of Russian Mixed Doubles was disappointed by Cheng-Peck as they clinched the second round from Ilya Goncharov and Inga Budarina with a scoreline 21-2, 21-7. The match was extremely easy for the Malaysian duo and the massive difference was clearly upsetting for the Russian Badminton aficionados.
