The Danes Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen entered round 3 after expelling Jelle Maas and Robin Tabeling of Netherlands with 21-11, 21-19 at the BWF World Championships 2018 in Nanjing, China.
The third seeds justified their billing at the tournament by outplaying the opponents, but it took time to end the match. Boe-Mogensen were able to close the encounter in 45 minutes.
The unseeds and World No. 34 Jelle and Robin gave a tough fight, though, who scored seven straight points and led the second game with 11-10 by the interval and maintained the dominance for a moment.
While, World No. 1 and top seeds Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo survived the scare after losing the first game against the unseeds Han Chengkai and Zhou Haodong from China with 18-21, 21-14, 21-18 in 52 minutes.
Marcus and Kevin would have won the match in straight sets but couldn’t cover the gap in the first game after losing the lead from 8-8. Nevertheless, that was not an easy match in rest two games as the Chinese excelled best trailing from 10-18 to 14-18 in second and threw neck-to-neck match after leading till mid game in the decider.
End of Good run for Indian Men’s Doubles
In another Men’s Doubles match, India’s top pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty lost the round 2 match against World No. 8 Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen of Denmark with 21-18, 15-21, 21-16 in the lengthy match of 68 minutes.
While, senior Indian pair Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy lost the battle after winning the first game with 24-23, 13-21, 16-21 in the second round at the tournament.
