BWF World Championships’18 LIVE: Praneeth and Sindhu Enter Round 3

India’s Sai Praneeth enters third round after defeating Luis Enrique Penalver of Spain with 21-18, 21-11 at the BWF World Championships 2018.

 

World No. 26 saved six points in a row trailing from 6-10 to 12-10 and went down the wire to seal the game. In the second game, the Indian changed the gear from 4-4, by winning straight points to his advantage with 11-10.

 

Praneeth entered second round post Son Wan Ho withdrew in the first round and will face Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus of Denmark in the third round, who made an early exit in the previous game and defeated World No. 13 Tommy Sugiarto of Indonesia in the previous round at the tournament.

 

While in Women’s Singles match, India’s favourite PV Sindhu defeated Fitriani Fitriani of Indonesia for the fifth straight time in their meetings with 21-14, 21-9 in the second round in 35 minutes.

 

As her strategy furthers, Sindhu played with slothy stride till 4-4 and started the neck-to-neck rivalry to seal the opening game. While in the second game, after crossing initial hurdles, the Indian game closed the match.

 

Prannoy Lose Ground

 

HS Prannoy lost in the first meeting against the Brazilian Ygor Coelho in the three sets encounter with 21-8, 16-21, 15-21 in the second round at the tournament; Ygor, who is in good form, defeated Wong Wing Ki Vincent in his opening round.

 

Prannoy played well, to as the spectator’s expectations, in the first game by winning the  most of 8 points. But couldn’t cope up in the second game, which could be come back win after the initial loss; the Indian reduced the deficit gradually and levelled the game at 15-15 before giving up.

 

Unlikely, the decider was a little tough for the opponents. Ygor read well about Prannoy’s moves and returns to change the script.

 

Sameer’s Great Loss

 

India’s Sameer Verma lost to Chinese star Lin Dan with 17-21, 14-21 in the 45-minute encounter.

 

Sameer’s opening game performance was better than second; wherein he played neck-to-neck with the Supar Dan till 6-6 in the former and trudged in the latter
