Lin Dan would probably miss his third individual title and the fifth gold at the 2018 Asian Games. Also, he would easily clinch the Team title as he is named third singles player after World No. 2 Shi Yuqi and World No. 7 Chen Long.

According to The Star Online, the China Badminton Association have listed only Shi Yuqi and Chen Long for the individual event, which means Lin Dan has no chance to perform at the tournament.

Previously, Lin Dan won in the Guangzhou and Incheon editions defeating Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei in both finals.

In the Quarter-Finals match on Monday, China thrashed Hong-Kong 3-0 with points from Shi Yuqi, Li Junhui-Liu Yuchen and Chen Long in Jakarta, Indonesia.

In the Semi-Finals match today, China will face Taiwan, but two-time Olympic champion Lin Dan, although fielded in the team event, he may not get a chance to play.

Super Dan was one of the team members when China won Team title in 2006 and 2010 in Doha and Guangzhou respectively.

Lin will have to wait till next version for his hat-trick individual title.
