Japan Open 2018 LIVE: Tai, Yamaguchi, Sindhu, Marin Progress

 India’s top female shuttler P.V. Sindhu progressed into next round after defeating the Japanese Sayaka Takahashi with 21-17, 7-21, 21-13 at the BWF Super 700 Japan Open 2018 started today in Tokyo, Japan.

 

Sindhu will meet her bygone nemesis at the China Open 2017, Gao Fangjie of China in the second round, who ousted the Indian Vaishnavi Reddy Jakka in the first round at the Japan Open 2018.

 

In the opener, adamant Sindhu grabbed the lead by saving as high as 11 consecutive points with 19-16 before losing easily in the second round. While in the decider, the Indian maintained the gap consistency between the points as the game goes to the pinnacle.

 

While the eighth seeded Japanese Nozomi Okuhara entered next round as her opponent Cheung Ngan Yi of Hong-Kong retired in the second game with 21-13, 13-12, to face her compatriot Sayaka Sato.

 

Other Women’s singles players Tai Tzu Ying of Taiwan, Carolina Marin of Spain, Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand, Sung Ji Hyun of Korea, Chen Yufei of China, and Akane Yamaguchi of Japan ease into next round at the Japan Open 2018 on Tuesday.

 

The six-day highly challenged contest will have its Final on Sunday, 16th September.
