BWF Japan Open 2018 LIVE: Viktor, Lin, Srikanth, Prannoy progress

 The BWF Super 700 Japan Open 2018 badminton tournament kickstarted at Tokyo, Japan, and the top stars are already into the next round.

 

The victory emanated with the Japanese third seeded player Kento Momota who thrashed the Dane Anders Antonsen with 21-9, 21-10 but in 48-minute tough challenge; in the first game Kento broke off to a eight point burst, while in the second game, Antonsen reached the deficit with 2-2 before losing the stride.

 

In another match, the fifth seed Chou Tien Chen of the Chinese Taipei saw off the Japanese Kanta Tsuneyama with 21-11, 21-10 in 38 minutes.

 

In another court, the Frenchman Brice Leverdez lost the battle in the first round after playing against the Thailand player Suppanyu Avihingsanon with 17-21, 19-21, while, the second seed Shi Yuqi too made an early exit after losing to the Thailand player Khosit Phetpradab with 18-21, 22-24.

 

India’s second best H.S Prannoy defeated Jonatan Christie in the straight sets with 21-18, 21-17; in the closely contested first game Prannoy trailed till the end - saved himself at 18-18 deficit - by stamping the command with the win, unlikely drifted towards the match point in the second game.

 

While, Srikanth Kidambi ousted Huang Yuxiang of China with 21-13, 21-15 in the 33-minute encounter. Meanwhile, the newly crowned at Hyderabad Open 2018, Sameer Verma, got toppled by the Korean with Lee Dong Keun in the three sets match with 18-21, 22-20, 21-10.

 

Other star players Wong Wing Ki Vincent, Chen Long, Lin Dan, Viktor Axelsen, Son Wan Ho progressed into the second round with an ease.
