Japan Open 2018 LIVE: Marin vs Ratchanok in Quarters

The sixth seeded Carolina Marin of Spain will face the fourth seed Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand in the Quarter-Finals at the BWF Super 700 Japan Open 2018 in Tokyo, Japan on Friday.

In the match of three sets of Round 2, Marin defeated Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand with 21-11, 21-23, 21-11, while Ratchanok ousted Gregoria Mariaka Tunjung of Indonesia with 21-15, 21-13 on Thursday.

In another Women’s Singles matches, Chen Yufei of China and Akane Yamaguchi of Japan also progressed into Quarters to face each other.

After defeating the Compatriot Sayaka Sato, Nozomi Okuhara of Japan secures berth in the round-of-8 to face Chen Xiaoxin of China, who trounsed World No. 1 Tai Tzu Ying in the round-of-16.

In the Men’s Singles discipline,  the third seed at the tournament Kento Momota set up the clash with an unseed Lin Dan of China in the quarters, while Viktor Axelsen of Denmark will face Anthony Sinisuka Ginting of Indonesia, and Chen Long of China will face Khosit Phetpradab of Thailand, and Kidambi Srikanth of India will face Lee Dong Keun of Korea.

If Srikanth defeats Lee Dong, we can expect to the clash between him and Chen Long in the Semi-Finals at the Japan Open 2018.

In the doubles discipline, the Men’s Doubles top seeded Indonesian players Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo and the second seeds Li Junhui/Liu Yuchen of China entered Quarters, while Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong of China of Mixed Doubles and Yuki Fukushima/Sayaka Hirota of Women’s Doubles progressed into Quarters.
