Top seeded Shi Yuqi & Chen Yufei will play the men’s and women’s finals, respectively at the 2019 Yonex Swiss Open in Basel. The top seeds won their games with relative ease and have locked both the singles title matches for the Chinese contingent.

Men’s top seed Shi Yuqi won the first game with relative ease against Anthony Sinisuka Ginting but the Indonesian youngster did put up a fight in the second one. But the Shi was always going to be a tough challenge for Anthony, as he closed the match in 41 minutes to romp home into the finals.

Joining in the men’s finals match is Indian ace B Sai Praneeth, who’s been in sensational form all week, and won against the Olympic Gold Medalist Chen Long in straight games 21-18 21-13. Chen, ranked higher and more favored, did start well but such as been Sai Praneeth’s winning streak this week that even the world number 5 had no answers to his guile and strokeplay.

In the women’s singles, Chen Yufei took on the Korean Sung Ji Hyun in the first of the semifinals; winning in just over half hour with the scoreline at 21-14 21-15. She will take on Japanese Saena Kawakami, who beat American shuttler Beiwen Zhang in a tightly contested match up 21-19 21-17.

Lee Yang & Wang Chi-Lin face off against fourth seeds Fajer Alfian & Mohammed Rian Ardianto, in what promises to be an entertaining men’s doubles final. While Chang Ye Na & Kyun Eun Jung stunned the second seeded Stoeva sisters to march into the women’s doubles finals. This Korean pair will take on the third seeds Nami Matsuyama & Chiharu Shida.

The mixed doubles finals will feature the home team Mathias Bay-Smidt and Rikke Soby taking on the Indonesian eight seeds Rinov Rivaldy & Pitha Haningtyas.

So, the finals day at the 2019 Yonex Swiss Open has plenty of promise and some great badminton action coming, don’t miss it!!
