Gayatri Pullela grabbed dual titles in Junior Grand Prix at Jakarta

The veteran badminton coach, Pullela Gopichand’s daughter Gayatri Pullela had won the dual U-15 titles; singles and doubles. Partnered with Samiya Farooqi, the duo bagged the doubles title at Pembangunan Jaya Raya Junior Grand Prix in Jakarta against Kelly Larissa and Shelandry Vyola of Indonesia by 21-11, 18-21, 21-16.

It couldn’t be much easier to play singles with doubles partner at the same tournament. Besides doubles, Gayatri Pullela won singles title against her doubles partner Samiya Farooqi as opponent.

Match ended with an ease by 21-17, 21-15.

Both the players, Gayatri Pullela and Samiya Farooqi are being trained at Pullela Gopichand’s Badminton Academy, Hyderabad. After the doubles match, Samiya said, “It was a great experience for me considering I was playing my own partner in the singles final. Tournaments like these are a great learning for us, and we look forward to many such competitions.

I would also like to thank our coach Gopi sir who is helping us get better and better.”
