Juniors on the rise, win double crowns at the Nationals

Emerging shuttler Aakarshi Kashyap delighted with the double crowns at the Junior National Badminton Championships in Guwahati by winning the U-17 and U-19 singles titles on Monday..


Beating Malvika Bansod, the 16-year-old didn’t find easy in the first game losing with 21-23 before she rebounded with impressive 21-17, 21-12 wins to clinch her U-17 title in the 65-minute encounter.


In the U19 category, during the second half of the final day, Kashyap faced the lengthy first game; eventually got past with 22-20 win followed by easy 21-11 win in 38 minutes against Vaidehi Chaudhary.


While in doubles category, the 17-year-old Mithula UK bagged the doubles crown as well; pairing with Rutuparna Das in U-19 girls category and with Krishna Prasad Garaga in the mixed doubles category.


Maisnam Meiraba of Manipur won the Under-17 boys singles title after beating Amit Rathore 21-13, 21-10 in the final. In the Under-19 boys singles final, Aryaman Tandon beat BM Rahul Bhardwaj 10-21, 21-18, 21-19 after 68 minutes.


Telangana’s Sri Krishna Sai Kumar Podile with Vishnu Goud Panjala outplayed D. Sanjai Srivatsa & Siddharth Elango in the U-19 boys doubles final 21-16, 21-19, while, in the U-17 boys final, Vishnuvardhan paired with Navaneeth Boka to blow out a 21-14, 21-13 triumph over Dhruv Rawat & Akash Yadav to emerge champions.
