Malvika, Pratul sealed the top honours, Meghana and Dhruv lift double crowns

Malvika Bansod and Pratul Joshi secured the top honours at the All India Senior Ranking Badminton tournament in the women’s singles and men’s singles respectively on Saturday.


Nagpur Teenager Malvika reached the climax of the tournament to play against the seventh seeded Vaishnavi Bhale and defeated with 21-14, 21-17.


While, the Top seeded Pratul Joshi ended the campaign after the hard-fight over the 12th seeded  Kartik Jindal with 21-15, 11-21, 21-18 in the final match.


Meghana Jakkampudi and Dhruv Kapila were the showstoppers of the final clash as they grabbed the double crowns each.


Pairing with Poorvisha S Ram, Meghana defeated the third seeded Vaishnavi Bhale and Anura Prabhudesai in the women’s singles with 21-19, 21-14, while, Dhruv and AP’s G Krishna Prasad clinched the men's doubles title by overcoming M Arjun Kumar Reddy and Gouse Shaik 21-13, 21-13.


Duo Meghana and Dhruv proved to be a potent combination in the mixed doubles as they upstaged Sri Krishna Sai Kumar Podile and Rutuparna Panda 22-10, 21-10 in the final.


Earlier, Uttarakhand's Anupama Upadhyaya made a bold dash for the under-15 girls singles title by stunning top seed Tasnim Mir in the semi-finals on Saturday; in a battle of 13-year-olds, Anupama sneaked past Gujarat's Tasnim 19-21, 21-18, 21-18.


Tamil Nadu's Sankar ended the challenge of third seed Pullela Sai Vishnu, son of national badminton chief coach Pullela Gopichand with 21-16, 21-9 in the semi-finals.
