Vaishnavi cruised into quarters at the All India Senior Ranking tournament

Vaishnavi Bhale cruised into quarter-finals at the All India Senior Ranking Badminton tournament at Dehradun, Uttarakhand on Friday. With her amazing performance, Bhale presented her impressive stride in both singles and doubles.


15th seeded Vaishnavi set up  a challenge against the fifth seeded Vaishnavi, who outplayed with 21-13, 19-21, 21-17 in the 50-minute contest. The LAD college student will face the unseeded Likhita Srivatsava in the quarterfinal match on Sunday.  


In the other women’s singles match, 11th seeded Riya Mookerjee pushed to the limits against the talented third seeded Mugdha Agrey, who failed to create upset with a 21-12, 16-21, 21-18 loss in 45 minutes.


Earlier, duo Vaishnavi and Mugdha had an easy win in their respective women’s singles second round matches.


After her opponent Shikha Gautam of Karnataka retired at 4-1 in the first game, Vaishnavi moved to next round, while Mugdha ousted Ishita Kumar with 21-8, 21-14 in just 25 minutes.


In the women’s doubles, Vaishnavi and Anura Prabhudesai trounsed Sheetal Kargeti and Kriti Prasad with 21-12, 21-16 to enter last 16 and will face 6th seeds Meghana Jakkampudi and Poorvisha S Ram in the next round.


In the mixed doubles event, Arundhati Pantawane and Sanyam Shukla ended their challenge after losing to the unseeds S Sunjith and J Meghana with a 21-16, 21-18 loss.

Women’s singles: Vaishnavi Bhale beat Shikha Gautam with 4-1 (Retired); Mugdha Agrey beat Ishita Kumar Manchander with 21-8, 21-14.


Mixed doubles: Sanyam Shukla/Arundhati Pantawane beat Dilshad K/Gauri Asija with 21-10, 21-17.


Pre-Quarterfinals:


Women’s singles: Vaishnavi Bhale beat Ashmita Chaliha with 21-13, 19-21, 21-17; Mugdha Agrey lost to Riya Mookerjee with 12-21, 21-16, 18-21.


Women’s doubles: Vaishnavi Bhale/Anura Prabhudesai beat Sheetal Kargeti/Kirti Prasad with 21-12, 21-16.


Mixed doubles: Sanyam Shukla/Arundhati Pantawane lost to Sunjith S/Meghana Jakkampudi with 16-21, 18-21.
