“I would want to see Junior Players delivering Big Performances” Says Gopichand at the inauguration of Hyderabad Hunters Academy

On Wednesday, in the presence of the chief national badminton team coach Pullela Gopichand, the PBL team Hyderabad Hunters launched their own academy in the wake of promoting junior players. About 150 junior players collected together with their parents across Telangana took part in a two-day tournament in the Under-13 Badminton Championship.


On the occasion of Telangana Formation Day, Hyderabad Hunters organized the much-thoughtful meet and included a prize money of Rs. 50,000.


In an exclusive interview with Mr. Pullela Gopichand, he remarks “Junior players also need recognition, not only for them, their parents, coaches and fraternity, it is important to encourage them, however, it is not necessary to go overboard.” on the current positioning of junior players in the mainstream media. With the rise in the game of badminton, Hyderabad Hunters is following a cohesive approach to train and promote the sport professionally.


“It is important to stay committed to the sport and bolster the efforts of players involved in the game” says Gopichand as he beams with joy to see an enthralling batch of 150 junior players gathered to uplift the game. Everybody looked up to him as he made an entry into the hallway while Gopichand interacted with the aspiring badminton players and asked them about the training. It is indeed not just a sport, but a way of living.


The Academy is a step to scout and unravel the new talent from adjacent states while also providing them with dedicated training in order to achieve several Saina’s in future.” says Mr. Shyam Gopu CEO, Hyderabad Hunters, who believes in the congruous spirit of the sport.


The winners of Premier Badminton League 3, Hyderabad Hunters have further cemented its bond and connect with the people and the city by launching an Academy that will give a platform to the rising stars in future to become great badminton players. “It will have the footprints in the city and give a more professional approach to promote the game.” Says Gopichand on such a brilliant initiative by the PBL franchise team.


Gopichand further added that “It is important for junior players to get out of their comfort zone and get an exposure of the international sports level, we will try to include more junior players in PBL this time. It is a great time play badminton and most importantly for junior players, it is essential to love the sport, work on the mistakes and stay disciplined. Good things will follow soon.”
