Third Dubai Para Badminton International Championships Kicks-Off Today

A strong Indian contingent led by world champions Pramod Bhagat and Manasi Joshi will feature in the Third Dubai Para Badminton International Championships to get underway in Dubai from later this afternoon.

 

Also, featuring in the team & the event would be Asian Para Games Champion Parul Parmar, 2019 World Championships bronze medalists Sukanth Kadam, Manoj Kumar and Krishna Nagar. As well as upcoming talent such as Palak Kohli. Overall, a total of 26-Indians will feature in the event at Dubai.

 

This is the first Para Badminton event following the corona virus shutdown, and the first in over a year. The last of the tournaments was way back in February 2020 in Peru. This will be a welcome return to compeititive action for players, who’ve been waiting ever since the world sports body BWF decided to reinstate badminton activity from January 2021.

 

The tournament features a total of 127 players, representing 29 nationalities and will be conducted at the Shabab Al Ahli Dubai Club from the 30th of March 2021 through 4th April 2021. 

 

Featuring several world champions and stars such as Leani Ratri Oktila, Suryo Nugroho and Dheva Anrimusthi from Indonesia, Lucas Mazur from France, and Cheah Like Hou from Malaysia, the event will also feature some new entrants such as contingents from Kuwait, Maldives, and Nepal.

 

The Indian contingent is the largest at the tournament, with 26-members in total.
