Spanish Para-Badminton International: Manasi and Sukant win gold

It’s double delight for the Indian badminton as Manasi Joshi and Sukant Kadam won gold in their respective categories in the finals of the VII Spanish Para-Badminton International 2018 held in Alcudia, Spain on Sunday.

Besides winning gold in WS SL3 category against Katarzyna Ziebik with 23-21, 21-18, the fifth ranked Manasi also won silver in SL3 SU5 Women’s doubles with Mamiko Toyoda of Japan with 21-19, 21-12 after losing against the top seeded Helle Sofie Sagoy and Katrin Seibert and bronze in mixed doubles XD SL3 - SU5 with Ilker Tuzcu after losing against the top seeded Marcel Adam and Katrin Seibert with 21-19, 18-21, 21-18.

While, the top seeded Sukant Kadam defeated the second seeded Kyung Hwan Shin 21-16, 21-16 in the finals of the VII Spanish Para-Badminton International 2018.


Sukant, who too is ranked fifth in MS SL4, was very much dominating since the knock-out stage, winning all his matches in straight games. He beat Tim Haller in the quarter-finals, Rickard Nilsson in the semi-finals.


The next biggest para-badminton tournament is the Dubai Para Badminton International to be held from April 10 to 15.
