Para Badminton Player Sukant Kadam back to World No. 2

Para-badminton shuttler Sukant Kadam rose one spot up to world no. 2 in the SL4 singles category in the latest rankings released by the world body.


His consistent exposure and excellent performance on Para-Badminton circuit, made him to reach the great position in the world rankings. And his recent most back-to-back bronze wins in Thailand and Ireland with 30 and 75 points respectively, helped him to get back to second spot from three.




This the all-time best achieved by Sukant Kadam leads to scale height at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.


Sukant Kadam becomes the second best ranked para-badminton player in any category in India on the BWF rankings. The others are Parul Dalsukhbhai Parmar, who is the world No.1 in the SL 3 Women and Manoj Sarkar, the world No 2 in the in the SL3 Men class.


Sukant, who trains at Nikhil Kanetkar Badminton Academy, said,“My aim is to play at 2020 Games, which requires hard work. It is a long way to go. I have been blessed so far and owe it all to the confidence that Nikhil sir has given to me,” as quoted the saying by Hindustan Times.


Head coach Nikhil Kanetkar said, “To be ranked No.2 is a huge feat. We are proud that our academy is going in proper direction. We are looking forward to get more exposure for Sukant, as he is good and focused player.”
