Sukant shines as he clinch 2 golds at Uganda Para Badminton Intl

World No. 2 Sukant Kadam wins gold in singles and doubles at the Uganda Para Badminton International 2018.


While India is hooked to Badminton Asia Championship, the para badminton men in silhouette silently clinched as many titles as possible in Uganda.


In the Men’s Singles SL4 category, top seeded Sukant took just 17-minutes to defeat Guillaume Gaily of France with 21-5, 21-18, while in Men’s Doubles category Sukant pairing with his compatriot Umesh Vikram Kumar beat Rafio Oyebanji Bello and Chukwuebuka Sunday Eze of Nigeria with 21-10, 21-12 in just 18 minutes.


Umesh, top seeded in Men’s Singles SL3 category, beat his compatriot and the second seeded Kumar Nitesh with 17-21, 21-15, 21-15 in the finals.


While, third seeded Sugil Abbas of the Men’s Singles SU5 category lost to the top seeded Liek Hou Cheah with 21-11, 21-5 in the 20-minute encounter.


Previously in the semi-finals event, Sukant pairing with Khadija Khamuka of Uganda lost to Rafio Oyebanji Bello and Chinyere Lucky Okoro with 19-21, 19-21 in the Standing event of Mixed Doubles SL3 - SU5.


While in another Standing Mixed Doubles SL3 - SU5 event, India’s Indrajit Pal paired with Lilian Namarome of Uganda lost to Guillaume Gailly of France and Mary Margaret Wilson with 9-21, 16-21 in the 22-minute encounter.


In the close match of the Wheelchair MS WH 2 event, Sanjeev Kumar of India lost to Madzlan Saibon with 13-21, 23-25, which lasted for more than half an hour.
