Sukant Kadam scaled height to world no. 2

Para badminton player Sukant Kadam scaled heights to world no. 2. Sukant being trained at Nikhil Kanetkar Badminton Academy (NKBA) with Nikhil Kanetkar at Balewadi moved up in the singles rankings in ‘SL4’ class.

 

In the recent past, he had excelled in achieving bronze at Thailand Open and Irish Open back to back by winning 30 and 75 points recently. Consistently, he has been getting exposed to the regular tournaments. So far, Sukant participated in five tournaments in Spain, Uganda, Turkey, Thailand, and Ireland and joined the party of active players by clinching medal in all the tournaments. Sukant is aiming to win Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

 

Besides Sukant, the other seeds are Parul Dalsukhbhai Parmar, who is the world No.1 in the ‘SL 3’ (Women) and Manoj Sarkar, the world No 2 in the in the ‘SL3’ (Men) class.

 

“The aim is to play at the 2020 Games. It’s a long way to go and a lot of hard work is required. I have been blessed so far and owe it all to the confidence that Nikhil sir has given me. The feeling is yet to settle in,” Sukant said to Hindustan Times.

 

“To be ranked No.2 is a huge feat. It makes our academy proud of the fact that we are doing the right thing. Sukant is a focused player and going forward, we will be looking into getting more exposure for Sukant in our mission,” said head coach, Nikhil Kanetkar.
